Our Favorite Annual Tradition

Our Favorite Annual Tradition

The Friday after every Thanksgiving, we venture out to to what we consider to be the best Christmas Tree Farm in the world to cut down our Christmas tree. It’s a tradition we hold dear, and all look forward to. This is the day, that we definitely want to document, and look back to year after year. This year, similar to lasts, we decided that hiring a photographer was the best decision, as we are officially outnumbered. And Nadya is always such a trooper with our whole gang.

With the intense cold front this past November, we decided to forego, matching, cute hats and went straight for snow suits, bulky hats and gloves, and all layers. We packed a bag that would guarantee that everyone would stay warm on our adventure, and left our house on time! Which rarely happens with our family of 5. The excitement was mounting as we were getting closer to the farm, and as we got there, we had just one thing to do-get the kids bundled up! And thats when we looked at each other and uttered the words…”Did you grab the bag?”… Yup, the bag that we mentioned earlier, was still at home, on the table… Considering it took us over an hour to get there, there was no turning back. So we had to make due with what we could find in the car: random sweaters, extra leggings, hats that just might have been a little small…

We ventured on our annual tradition, in mismatched everything. In the end we found a beautiful Christmas Tree, Kids ate lunch by the fire pit, all picked out their ornaments and fun was had by all. As we got in the car, hot coca and kettle cooked pop corn in hand, thawing a little, there was a sense of joy, of all the memories we made that day. And having these photos just truly reminds us that while things may not go exactly to plan, its okay to adjust, and still have the best time ever.
