Farm Birthday Party

Does this page look different? After months and months of redesign, our blog got an amazing facelift! And we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than to share our backyard birthday celebration.

There is one HUGE advantage of having 2 kids with birthdays in the same month. This year, Sasha turned 4 and Michael turned 2, and we were beyond excited to plan for it. Of course, there comes the challenge of what can do that’s fun for both ages and what’s the theme we can agree on. After some back and forth we landed on a farm. Sasha loves bunnies, and Michael… he will like anything Sasha likes. So we ran with it!

It’s important to note: we tend to wait until the last minute… so this whole party came together in just one week. That whole week seemed like a blur so we will highlight key in a bullet point format, as everything is super jumbled in our minds.

  • Dress code- sounds funny when we say that, but farm party called for overalls! Of course we didn’t anticipate that our girly girls would throw a fit about wearing them, so last minute we made an adjustment to the girls wearing cow print dresses. Which looked even cuter!
  • Cakes. For years we have been making our own cakes. This year, with a wedding the day before the party, and overall lack of sleep we decided to compromise. We decided to make 2 chickens for our chickens, and our local Whole Foods took some already made cakes and covered them in coconut flakes. We just put the finishing touches with fondant pieces made by Jimmy.
  • Hay! It is not a farm without the hay bales, so thanks to our local farm and the awesome hay bales. Which provided great seating and an awesome snack for the goat!
  • Speaking of the goat! McDonny’s Traveling farm were absolute rockstars! This was our main attraction and it kept all age groups entertained. Our party included chickens, ducks, bunnies, baby bunnies, baby chicks, a goat, and of course, pony rides. The whole crew was amazing, and so patient with all the kids!
  • Menu. We had: pulled pork, pulled chicken, corn bread, mac & cheese, black bean/chick pea salad, corn on the cob, veggie platter. And of course desert: cream puffs, berries, and CAKE!
  • Decor. This is where Amazon midnight ordering came into play. Everything was ordered and delivered in the following 2 day. Right in time for the party!

And of course it wouldn’t have been a party without all of our amazing guests! Thank you to our family, friends, neighbors for celebrating with us! One party was definitely better than two!
