Happy Father’s Day!
When you’re young, in love, finishing school and starting a business the last thing that pops in your head is kids. Jimmy and I were married for 3 years before we had our first little angel, Victoria. We weren’t around babies much. No one in our families have had kids yet. Before we had Victoria, I had never thought to myself, “wow, Jimmy would be a great dad!”. Not because I didn’t have faith in him but because I’d never seen him hold a baby before. As much as we talked about having kids and the excitement of starting a family, we were both inexperienced.
Then there was that first time Jimmy held Victoria. The first time he picked her up and held her close. I could see it in his eyes, she stole his heart. I completely melted. This was it. Our family.
But then, there was one of my favorite moments of our new family. The first diaper change. Jimmy had never changed a diaper. Can you believe it?! I teased him about it. “I think she needs a diaper change.” But he shot up with sheer excitement, more excitement than I had ever seen in someone that was going to change a diaper. The effort he put into learning how to change his daughters first diaper was more effort than he’d ever spent studying for an exam. It was then, in this moment that I knew, Jimmy was going to be the best dad to our beautiful little girl. And since then, everything he does for Victoria is filled with passion, excitement and love!
Three years later, Victoria and Jimmy have an unbreakable bond, they are inseparable. Don’t get me wrong, I do get a little jealous sometimes. But when I see that look of pure joy in Victoria’s face when she runs into her daddy’s arms, I couldn’t ask for anything more. Now, I can’t wait for Sasha to get older and share these precious moments with Jimmy. My girls and I are so lucky to have such an amazing daddy! Happy Father’s Day Jimmy, your girls love you!!!
