Dad, Daddy, Dada
Currently, Michael (our 10 months old) has two kinds of happy. The first happy is the cute smile, with a little twinkle in his eye. The second happy, is full body smile where it seems like he is about to jump out of his own pants, with smiles so big, it could light up the whole world. And that second smile only happens when he sees his daddy!
Even before we got married, we knew we wanted to have kids. And we knew we wanted a big family. At times we joked that we would have 15 kids (side note: it was only a joke, and we do not plan on having 15 kids!). Even though, during our dating years, we didn’t spend a lot of time around kids, somehow I knew Jimmy would be a great dad.
When we first met he was always the fun one, and I was the reserved one. His fun/sillyness is very infectious, so much that not even a year later, I, at times, was the silly and fun one. Its not that I didn’t like having fun, but for some reason I always held back… a little. I had the “russian smile”, you know, the no teeth, or smile only on the inside. I always admired how Jimmy was able to let go, and be himself no matter who was around it.
Now, with three kids, playtime is on Jimmy’s schedule daily. I love watching our kids smiles, and listening to all the belly laughs. He is always game to do whatever they want, weather its drawing at the art table and taking crazy requests like: ” Daddy draw a pig in a puddle with a hat”, or running around the yard and playing tag. Since his first Father’s Day, we always celebrated not with presents, but by spending time together. And this year, that was the plan. Most of the time our schedule is crazy, always on the go, and every minute is planned out. But yesterday, we did nothing! We enjoyed our yard, the kids splashed in the pool, we went to the butcher, we grilled out for dinner. And this was the best Father’s Day yet!
Happy Father’s Day, to all the dad’s. Hope you had a great day of making memories!
