Our Home Tour – Living Room

Christmas sticks around our house a little longer than you would expect. We don’t rush to take out our Christmas tree or put away our decor, we soak in all the festivities and make sure we full-fill all the holiday traditions before we move on (usually around January 10). We reset our house to the “norm”. Seeing our house back to this state, always gives us that fresh and new appreciation for our home and all the work that went into it. We’ve been in this house for a little over two years, and it wasn’t until summer 2018 that we finally updated the super outdated living room that we’d been living with. Here are some photos from the listing to give you an idea.

They say: “The home improvement list never ends. There is always something.” And its so true! This living room may look nice, but please don’t look too closely at the paint job. The 10 layers of white paint on our trim and wainscoting somehow is being absorbed by that underlaying dark wood that covered the walls when we moved in. The “oops” drops from the sloppy paint job are covering the doors, floors and spots that we are not even sure how it got there. The inside of the fireplace still needs a paint job, and a set of doors. There are more than a few things on the list to buy and things to do, but for now we are happy. This is the room where our family has Friday game nights, makes memories, displays memories and grows together.

Now, we’re no Chip & Joanna, with the out-of-this-world design aesthetics, but we are pretty proud of what we’ve done. Magnolia literature is a strong inspiration (as you can see by the books and magazines) and our strong love for vintage camera, family photos really can’t be missed. Things might change, things will be added and removed, but this is Our Home Tour- Living Room addition- January 2018.
